• The dark time of the year has arrived, and this New Moon Eclipse initiates the season of darkness, depth and death, as the Moon casts her shadow upon the Earth, while resting with the Sun in Scorpio’s dark waters which stir our feelings existing below the surface.
  
  The beauty of death is that it brings life. In order to receive fruit in the fall, the leaves on the trees must die, so that blossoms can be reborn in the Spring. This New Moon connects us with our cyclical nature where we remember and are comforted by the rhythms of life. Here we shed and release that which no longer serves us yet is taking up space. We let it go, give it away, allow it to return to the Earth to decompose, transforming into fertile soil from which the new and more aligned may be born, to support us in our life as we walk another cycle of our journey.
  
  Let yourself surrender into the depths of your feelings. In the dark, embraced by the formless, let what wants to shed, be released. Making your way into your cocoon, allow this transformation to take place. What intentions can you set to support transformation in your life? What are you letting go of?
  
  Listen and feel, and allow this darkness to carry you towards your rebirth.

Scents for Scorpio

For this New Moon we want to go for those scents that engage our insight and intuition, and even some with that added air of mystery.

Try on frankincense- which is known as the oil of truth- it encourages enlightenment and connection with other realms. A great followup to frankincense is of course, myrrh. With its warm, aromatic and woodys notes you'll be sinking into relaxation in no time. Wisteria is another favorite as it encourages deeper meditation and psychic opening. Palmarosa can ease us into a more relaxed state which is perfect for opening up more intuitive pathways. Clary Sage is a goto for psychic and spiritual abilities.    

Colors and Fabrics for Scorpio

We usually think of Scorpio colors as deep reds and pitch black, but during this new moon and partial solar eclipse we’re focusing on more unusual choices. Try deep hunter green, mysterious and regal eggplant, and sophisticated steel grey. We going the same direction with textiles and adding a bit mysterious. Gauzy layers and fabrics dyed with novel techniques, like batik, block printing, or even eco printing are a fantastic option.

Gemstones for Scorpio

With this New Moon being a time of heightened intuition, we’ve picked gems to aid in that area. We're looking at gems that support a more open heart and mind. Choose moonstone to engage your intuition and guide you to the answers you seek. Go for a piece of serpentine to help ground into inner peace. Clear quartz and obsidian are great all purpose stones and may help sharpen your intuition. If you specifically want to expand your consciousness and communicate with guides, quartz is ideal, but if you’re more focused on protection and healing, try obsidian!

Card Spread for the Scorpio New Moon

Ritual for the Scorpio New Moon

Scorpio energy is transformative, focused on death and rebirth. Though it might be a bit scary at first, these transitions must happen for growth. We suggest a simple but effective ritual for transmuting that which is holding you back into something beautiful.

For this ritual you will need paper (ideally colored or even origami paper), scissors, a writing implement and maybe some tape or glue. You may also want some black candles and one of the suggested crystals above.

To start, set up your space, lay out the crystals, light the candles, and anything else that helps put you at ease. Then, on the paper, write down things in your life that you would like to move past, let go of, or improve. Write one thing on each piece of paper and meditate on why you need to move on or make changes. Think about how you can transform these things into lessons and building blocks. Now begin cutting the pieces of paper and/or folding them.

What you transform the paper into is entirely up to you. You might want to make origami, tear them up and make new paper out of them or use them as celebratory confetti. Our favorite thing to do is turn them into paper flowers and keep them on an altar for a few days/weeks/months, however long it takes to feel like you’ve really been able to let go. Then simply recycle them and let them be transformed again.
