- The queen of the night finds her place upon Leo’s golden throne, as she sits within the Sky Palace, King Sun shining his light upon her, from across the sky. With this Full Moon, the power of light, strength of the Sun and medicine of illumination, is revealed.
The sign of Leo is ruled by the Sun, the brightest star in the sky which makes life on Earth possible, supporting everything in growing and thriving. Leo teaches us how we may rule with our gifts, sharing our light with the world with dignity and respect. The Moon holds the codes of the feminine, representing the womb of all life, the waters which nourish that which thrive in the Sun. Shining brightly, this lunation grants us the power of both fire and water, allowing us to feel the magic of our gifts within, and let them shine outwards for the world to receive.
What gifts are uniquely yours that you have to share? Where are you being asked to step into leadership, to shine your light and support others? Under the light of the Moon, adorn yourself in that which brings out your royal nature and claim your throne. You are the leader of your life, and with your heart as your guide, let yourself shine.

Scents for Leo
For this Full Moon, choose rich and comforting scents that have an exciting element.
Warm spiced scents (think winter holidays), vanilla, amber, frankincense, and lavender for relaxing are all great choices. A mix of cinnamon, ginger, and clove is also great.

Colors and Fabrics for Leo
The Full Moon brings us the bright, shining energy of Leo.
Now is the time to surround yourself with bright colors that attract the spotlight and feel celebratory. Oranges, yellows, and my personal favorite, gold, are all great for home decor or dressing up. This desire to shine works for textiles too. Don’t be afraid to throw on something sequined or glittery! On the opposite end of the spectrum, you can indulge in warm, comfortable loungewear for relaxing
Gemstones for Leo
Amethyst, Peridot, Pink Tourmaline, Spirit Quartz, and Pink Sapphire (for letting go of fear) are all good choices to help you let go, feel safe, and relax. We're particularly fond of smoky quartz during this full moon because it helps us let go of the past- perfect for full moon rituals.

Ritual:
Showing gratitude:
A simple secular ritual for the full moon is taking stock of accomplishments and giving thanks for all the support you’ve received during the process of achieving these things. Start by writing down any recent accomplishments - things finished within the past six months or even the past year. Then write out the people, resources, etc. that have helped you get there. If there are specific people who have helped you, write out thank you notes. You can even send them if you feel like it - whether in the mail or via text. After all, the Leo moon is also about focusing on relationships and being grateful for those in your life who support you.
Cleansings:
There are all sorts of ways to do cleansings for yourself, your environment, or your tools (your tarot cards might need a recharge after all). One fun cleansing for the Leo full moon is the use of fire to burn away anything you need to let go of. This is a cleansing from the past and it’s not just witchy work (burning old love letters is a pretty old trope by now).
First, write down the things you want to let go of. If any of these things is related to a particular person or moment in your life and you have paper evidence of that, tie these papers into a burning bundle along with what you wrote down. This bundle should also contain other burning material, like sticks that you want to throw into a bonfire or aromatic herbs for a small cauldron. Make sure everything is securely tied together with flammable twine.
Ground yourself, open your circle, or perform any other ritual opening that you normally do. If you don’t have any ritual openings, you can always meditate on your goal for the ritual. Then begin burning your bundle. Wait until every bit of the paper has turned to ash. Watch the fire as it burns and look for any messages that it is trying to communicate. Once the paper is gone you can consider the cleansing complete but for extra security you can wait until the entirety of the bundle (i.e. the sticks, herbs, twine, etc.) are burned away. If possible you can let the fire burn out naturally.
Once the fire is out, close out the ritual how you normally would. Again, if you don’t have your own method, a simple closing is just to give thanks out loud.
